Some thought-provoking, 10-minute-long indie gems can evoke the kind of emotional reaction that you won't feel after shooting the heads off a hundred online opponents in Call of Duty: Black Ops. This game - ...But That Was [Yesterday] by Michael Molinari (OneMrBean) - might make you smile, and cry... Perhaps it will make you think about some people you've had in your past, and where you're going in the future. Its one-line description: "A personal journey about learning to move forward in life."
It's only about ten minutes long and very reminiscent of Every Day the Same Dream by Mollie Industria (another must-experience indie game). You should really check it out; it might help remind you that "games" don't have to fall into the typical GoW/CoD/WoW AAA stereotype to be worthy of your attention, and that maybe folks such as Roger Ebert shouldn't just take the entire art of game design at face value.
You don't take games at face value, do you?
